Newport County midfielder Finn Azaz has been named the January Young Player of the Month for the whole of the EFL.
The 21-year-old Aston Villa loanee has been a shining light the entire season for promotion-chasing County but it was January where he particularly impressed, with his exploits for the Amber and Black being recognised by the EFL.
January was a fine month for the club as a whole, with County earning 13 points out of a possible 18, which included a run of four-straight victories. Azaz played a vital role in securing those results, with his standout game of the month being a 4-0 demolition of Harrogate where he provided two assists.
He provided the run and low cross for the first of Dom Telford's two goals in the game with the second assist being a perfectly-timed through ball to Telford who had time and space to fire home for 3-0 at Rodney Parade.
Azaz also registered an assist in the 2-1 win over Barrow where he and Telford linked up again for Dom's second of the afternoon, with Azaz expertly breaking the lines in midfield before teeing up Telford for a wonderful County goal.
Congratulations, Finn!
