Newport County AFC are delighted to announce the launch of a brand new supporter- led initiative which will be known as ‘The Kit Sh4ck’ – which stands for ‘Second Homes 4 County Kits.’
The Club loves to see the stands filled with County colours on match day as well as in the wider community. The Club appreciates the importance of recycling and sustainability, but also recognises that times are hard for a lot of people who are loyal to our Club, due to the cost of living crisis, and hopes that this will go some way to help support during these times.
‘The Kit Sh4ck’ is the brainchild of lifelong Newport County AFC supporter Ian Hopkins, who had the idea following a conversation with a family following our at home Walsall fixture earlier this month. Ian will oversee the initiative, which we will fully support.
All that we ask is that you have a rummage in your cupboards for any shirts that perhaps you no longer wear, or perhaps you have grown out of, and donate them to this fantastic initiative. All shirt donations will be gratefully received. Ian just asks that the shirts are in good condition, and that you please launder the shirts and place them inside a carrier bag. You can then donate them by dropping them off to Ian in the marquee on a match day at the County Lottery and Trust table prior to kick off. Ian can arrange any collections of any shirts with you directly.
Ian has created a Facebook page, which supporters can join and find under ‘The Kit Sh4ck’ or by using Newport County AFC search facilities on the social platform. Ian will post pictures and lists of the tops and sizes available, and supporters can request any of these for free by private message, e-mail or text, directly to Ian.
To begin with, we are asking all of you – our kind supporters to please locate any old shirts that you no longer want/need, and would benefit from having a new owner.
The Club recognises that replica shirts are also collectable items, so would like to state that this initiative is not aimed to help boost private collections, or for people to sell for profit.
We hope that this initiative will be well received, and look forward to seeing more of you in Newport County AFC shirts, thanks to the generous donations from our supporters.
The Club would like to thank Ian for his idea and support.
You will be able to drop off your shirts into the marquee on match day starting from Saturday 3rd September.
