Omar Bogle's brace, an own goal and Thierry Nevers' first for the club, all in the first half saw County thrash Harrogate 4-0 away from home.
County raced into a fourth-minute lead when Bogle broke the offside trap, ran towards goal and found the back of the net from a tight angle on the left of the box.
Newport kept up their lightning start by making it 2-0 five minutes later, this time via an own goal but it easily could have been Bogle's second.
James Waite's through ball was aimed towards Bogle but as he bore down on goal, Harrogate's Kayne Ramsey intervened with a sliding tackle that only succeeded in him diverting the ball past his own keeper and in for 2-0.
There was no let up for County though and it was 3-0 in the 22nd minute when a lovely team move ended with West Ham loanee Nevers sweeping home his first Newport goal low into the goal from the left of the box.
And County made it 4-0 just before half-time with Bogle's second. Nevers won the ball in the Harrogate half after seizing on a poor pass and the pacey striker surged forward before squaring for Bogle in a two-on-one situation.
Bogle then had no problems tapping home into a near-empty goal for 4-0 one minute before the half-time break.
Newport easily could have had even more than that before the end of the first 45 - Waite went close with a volley from the edge of the box while Bogle also had a shot blocked and headed past the left post. All Harrogate could manage was Jack Muldoon shooting into the side netting.
After making three changes, Harrogate did start the second half with a spring in their step as Luke Armstrong struck over the bar after a free-kick deflected into his path.
The rest of the second half was exhibition stuff for County though, with the game won and Harrogate unable to provide much threat in the way of getting back into the contest.
Lewis Collins struck narrowly wide with 15 minutes to go while Lewis Richards hit the bar and over from distance for the hosts.
