Newport and Bradford played out an entertaining 0-0 draw at Rodney Parade with our unbeaten run at home stretching to three games.
Caretaker manager Wayne Hatswell named an unchanged side from the 3-0 dismantling of Scunthorpe last Saturday but it was Bradford who had the first shot on goal through Andy Cook. County stopper Joe Day had little trouble saving the ball with his feet though in the fifth minute.
Our first opening came in the 13th minute but skipper Matt Dolan had his powerful shot from inside the area blocked by one of the many Bradford bodies that put themselves on the line to keep out the effort after Ed Upson had hooked the ball across the face of goal.
Two minutes later, Oli Cooper sprinted towards the Bradford box on a promising-looking counter-attack for County but he was tackled just in the nip of time to force a corner. Said corner could only lead to James Clarke having a header grabbed by Bradford keeper Richard O'Donnell.
The game's next chance saw Bradford's Charles Vernam fire over the bar from distance but it never looked like causing Day any problems.
Upson attempted a brace diving header to meet a cross from the right soon after, but again a Bradford man was there to get a key touch so it only succeeded in going out for a corner.
We ended the first half on top though but the deadlock was not broken, as the final chance of the opening 45 saw Ryan Haynes strike over the bar after a short corner was played out to him.
Dolan had the first shot on target of the second half and his strike from the edge of the area took a bounce which led to O'Donnell needing two attempts to get it under his control.
As the hour mark approached, County were twice denied by the crossbar from close-range headers. First, Courtney Baker-Richardson's came off the underside of the bar and Clarke will still be wondering how his header from point-blank range came back off the woodwork rather than nestling into the Bradford goal.
Dom Telford then curled an effort just wide with his left foot from inside the box as it started to look only a matter of time before we would take the lead at Rodney Parade.
Haynes seemed determined to score a memorable goal and, in the 74th minute, a second fierce drive from him from a long way out flew over the bar.
Unfortunately, though, we had to settle for a point with Demetriou also nodding wide in second-half stoppage time while Cook volleyed well wide late on for Bradford as they too had to take a point in South Wales.
