Newport County AFC are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former player, Laurie Sheffield.
Sheffield passed yesterday at the age of 82.
His time at County between 1961 and 1965 was a successful one for him personally, with the forward netting 46 goals in 91 appearances for Newport after joining the club from Barry Town.
Across his career, Sheffield also played for Bristol Rovers, Doncaster, Norwich, Rotherham, Oldham and Peterborough with Sheffield's two spells in Doncaster leading him to be inducted into the Hall of Fame at the Keepmoat Stadium.
In 281 league appearances, Sheffield scored 132 goals in his 12-year career.
