International Day Against Homophobia

As a supporter-owned and community-based club, Newport County AFC has a wide fan base. We treat all our supporters equally, irrespective of race, faith, background, gender or sexuality.

We believe in equality for all and have a zero-tolerance approach to homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia.

We are now working with our LGBT+ fans to create a new supporter group, County with Pride.

Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia & Biphobia (IDAHOT) and we are marking it with a call for more LGBT+ fans to join this newly-formed group.

The group will officially be launched for the start of the 2021/22 season and will work collaboratively and in partnership with Newport County AFC to help create a safer space and club for all supporters.

County supporter Nate Thomas said: "As a member of the LGBQT+ community, I believe football should be a haven for everybody regardless of race, belief, sexuality or gender identity.

"I feel immensely proud to be a supporter of a football club that promotes inclusion and equality for all and that is why I have decided to get involved. We need more people to join us to help represent all aspects of the LGBT+ community so would encourage other to get involved".
