The extensive pitch and stadium development work at Rodney Parade has an eye-catching change this week - with the seeds now popping and grass covering the playing surface.
Our contractors, South Wales Sports Grounds, have commenced the final stages of the pitch development, completing the implementation of the grass seeds alongside applying another fertiliser to increase the speed of grass growth across the field.
The preparation of the 4G surrounding the pitch is also in the final stages and that work will go ahead while the grass continues to grow.
In three weeks-time the stitching of the playing surface will begin, and the development of the pitch will then have been completed.
Jon Raymond, Facilities Manager at Dragons Rugby, said: “It’s great to see grass back on the pitch and all the hard work starting to come together as we near the end of this big project.
“I need to praise the contractors, South Wales Sports Grounds, for their professionalism and hard work throughout the whole process, they have been a pleasure to work alongside.
“We all look forward to seeing the finished article in the near future and are excited to get the boys playing on it ahead of the new season.”
