Newport County AFC are delighted to announce the signing of Jamie Devitt on a loan deal from Blackpool until January 2021.
Devitt, who is a vastly experienced attacking midfielder having already made 265 Sky Bet League Two appearances, has joined the Exiles until 17th January.
The former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international also has a promotion under his belt after winning the Sky Bet League Two title with Chesterfield in the 2013/14 season.
The 30-year-old spent last season’s campaign on loan at fellow Sky Bet League Two rivals Bradford City, where he made six appearances for the Bantams before the season was curtailed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
After finalising the deal, Devitt said: “When the opportunity came up I wanted to get it done as quickly as I could. “The manager showed how much he wanted me, so I can only repay him by putting in good performances and helping the team get wins.
“I’ve played in League Two for most of my career now and if you can put some consistency together, you can get out of the league.
“The squad here looks very strong so I don’t see why we can’t get out of this league.”
Manager Michael Flynn added: “Jamie is a very experienced player who knows what it takes to get out of this division after his promotion with Chesterfield.
“I played with him during our time together at Bradford, so I know about his qualities on and off the pitch.
“He’s got a good goalscoring record at this level and his experience will be hugely beneficial to this team.
“We’ve got a good mix of experience and young players in the squad now, so hopefully Jamie can help us get to where we want to be and contribute well during his time with us.”
