Midfielder and MOTM Dale Gorman speaks to the media following the winning goal in a hard fought 1-0 win over Morecambe at Rodney Parade.
The midfielder, who signed on loan from Leyton Orient in January, scored the only goal of the game at Rodney Parade to give County the ideal end to a tough few weeks.
Gorman said, “It was important that we bounced back after two defeats in a week. I think we deserved it because we were back to our best today.
“One thing the gaffer said before the game was that no matter what happens, we all stick together, and that was clear as day out there.
“It was a tough week last week but we showed a lot of guts and determination today to go out there and get the three points.”
The Irishman found the net with a lobbed finish midway through the second half, with opinion split on whether he meant it. Thankfully Gorman was on hand to set the record straight, “Definitely! Always meant it.
“It’s just dropped to me and I’ve seen the keeper off his line and thought I’ll put it back into that area. It was a good finish, I’ll take it! A goal is a goal.”
The Exiles now face the daunting task of three consecutive away games. Gorman stated that he and the squad are relishing the challenge this brings, “Three tough away games but three games we’re looking forward to.
“There’s not many games left now so we’ll go into every game trying to get as many points as we can towards the end of the season and see where it takes us.
“That win is on the board now. We go into Tuesday with three points, spirits are high again and we’re looking forward to it.”
On a personal note, Gorman explained his delight at settling in and getting regular playing time at Rodney Parade, “I’m loving it to be fair.
“I’m back enjoying my football again and the club and the dressing room has been brilliant to me so far so I’m enjoying it.”
