Lennie Lawrence departs

Newport County AFC First Team Management Consultant Lennie Lawrence has left the Club.

Lennie joined the Club in March 2017, initially on a short-term deal until the end of what proved to be the Great Escape season, to provide experienced assistance to the then caretaker manager Michael Flynn.

Since then Lennie, one of a select group to have managed more than 1,000 league games, has remained with the club on a part-time basis to help Michael and his assistant Wayne Hatswell – playing a part in our subsequent FA Cup runs and reaching the 2018-19 promotion play-off final.

Lennie is taking up a new position with Stevenage FC.

Manager Michael Flynn said “I would like to thank Lennie for all the support and advice he has provided in the 3 years we have worked together. We have enjoyed some amazing times. I would like to wish him well for the future. He will always be a very valued friend to me

Newport County AFC would like to thank Lennie for all his hard work during his time at the Club. He leaves with our best wishes for the future and will always be a welcome visitor to Rodney Parade
