Club Update 18 06

The Covid-19 pandemic might have ended League Two early for Newport County AFC but what a fantastic season 2019-20 was for our young supporters.

Clwb Spytty welcomed our young fans in great numbers every week to our pre-match marquee activities and to gain their passport stamps.

We had our sticker album launch, Christmas party, open training session, your reactions to your birthday messages during lockdown, and cheering on our team week on week has left us with some incredible memories across the season. Your passion and excitement for all things Newport County AFC has been astounding.

Clwb Spytty – the junior section of the Supporters’ Trust – saw a 43% increase in memberships during the season and we look forward to growing again in 2020-21 as we further develop the section to also include a new membership for young people of high school age.

Most importantly we are really looking forward to the day that we can welcome you and your families back to Rodney Parade.

The Club’s End of Season Awards will be different for two reasons this year. Firstly, they will be held virtually due to lockdown restrictions and, excitingly, for the first time our young supporters have been voting for the Pentagon Financial Solutions Clwb Spytty Player of the Year. It has been wonderful to see so many young fans choosing their favourite player.

A huge thank you to all of you who have supported us throughout the season, including our official sponsor Pentagon Financial Solutions; our amazing volunteers – Dave, Lisa, Niamh, Rubi, Samantha and Stuart; and our pre-match entertainment team of Newport City Radio, Sweet Dreams, R&N Inflatables, Bouncebackability, Bouncy Castles Wales and the Creation Station Cwmbran.

See you next season!
