Alzheimer's Society is the UK's leading dementia charity. It was started in 1979 by two carers who felt alone and desperately in need of support.
Cora Phillipa and Morella Fisher were two key people who started the Alzheimer’s Disease Society to support families and carers with information about dementia, advise on the support available through social services, ensure adequate nursing care was available in the later stages of the condition and to promote research and to educate people about dementia.
We have come a long way in 40 years, and we have much more to do as we know dementia devastates lives. By 2021, 1 million people will be living with the condition. But dementia won't win. Until the day we find a cure, Alzheimer's Society will be here for anyone affected by dementia - wherever they are, whatever they're going through. Everything we do is informed and inspired by them.
We are the UK's leading dementia charity. Every day, we work tirelessly to find new treatments and, ultimately, a cure for dementia. We provide expert information, training, and support services to all those who need our help. And we are creating a more dementia-friendly society so people with the condition can live without fear and prejudice.
Please vote for Alzheimer’s Society so we can help more people living with this devastating disease.
