Storm Dennis ensured plenty of footballers had the weekend off as heavy rain and high winds forced the postponements of fixtures throughout the football calendar.
But games involving Ebbsfleet United and Bromley in the National League beat the weather ensuring Marvel Ekpiteta and Corey Whitely were out on the turf.
Ekpiteta has been a key component in the ‘Fleet backline and he helped them claim a clean sheet in a narrow 1-0 win over Chorley.
Jack King reacted first to a Frankie Sutherland free kick to fire in the winner but Ebbsfleet needed a late penalty save from David Gregory, who kept out Alex Newby, to seal the win.
Meanwhile, Bromley fell to a 1-0 loss at Stockport County.
Whitely found himself in good spaces and had a couple of half chances for Bromley but he couldn’t prevent debutant Liam Hogan securing the win for Stockport.
