Michael Flynn has warned his Newport County AFC squad that they can’t underestimate eighth tier Maldon & Tiptree in the Emirates FA Cup Second Round after booking their place to face them with a 2-0 victory over Grimsby Town.
Padraig Amond and Joss Labadie both calmly took their chances in the second half as County made it through to the Second Round for the fifth successive season.

Flynn affirmed: “We’re through and that’s the most important thing. The first half wasn’t good enough, I thought we got dragged into a game that we didn’t intend to play but second half was much better.
“We made better use of the ball, we turned them better, looked threatening on the break and with one or two better crosses, we’d have scored a few more.
“We’ve now got to go to Maldon & Tiptree and make sure we’re at our best. What I won’t be doing is resting players, I’ll play the team I think can win the game. We’ve had them watched, we’ve seen them already with what they did to Leyton Orient and it’s going to be a tough game.
“Saturday against Oldham Athletic is first. That’ll be a tough game, Dino will have them organised and fighting for each other.”
