Newport County AFC are delighted to announce details of the upcoming pre-season friendly against Moreton-in-Marsh on Friday, 12th July.
30 years ago in June 1989 County reformed as Newport A.F.C by 400 supporters with now Club President David Hando as chairman following Newport County going out of business in February 1989.
With John Relish at the helm as First Team Manager, the name "Newport A.F.C." was decided upon before the Club adopted the nickname The Exiles, as a result of having to play home matches for the 1989–90 season at the London Road ground in the north Gloucestershire town of Moreton-in-Marsh, around 80 miles north-east of Newport.
Three decades later, NCAFC are now delighted to announce the details of a friendly that will see a County XI play Moreton Rangers, the team that now play their home matches on the same pitch County briefly called home all those years ago, kicking off at 7pm on Friday 12th July.
