THE EXILES - The Remarkable Story of Newport AFC

“The Exiles - The remarkable story of Newport AFC” is published on Saturday. It is written by David Hando, Newport County AFC President and Chairman of the club when it was Newport AFC, while fellow fans contribute their memories.

The book covers the sad demise of Newport County and its replacement by Newport AFC, a club formed, financed and run by ordinary fans. It includes the difficult relations with the Council and the FAW, which led to the club's enforced exile 85 miles away to Moreton in Marsh, the League and Cup triumphs, the return to a derelict Somerton Park and the early years in the Beazer Homes League, before a second enforced exile loomed.

The book, which costs £15, contains over 100 photographs and previously unpublished documents. It will be on sale in the Marquee at Rodney Parade this weekend.
