Victory for the Exiles in tomorrow evening’s final Checkatrade Trophy match versus Plymouth Argyle will see them advance to the knock-out stages of the competition.
Victory by five clear goals will see Newport County AFC finish top of the group (and guarantee a home tie) whilst victory by four goals or less will see them finish below Chelsea U21s but above Swindon Town on goal-difference. A second place finish will be enough to progress but will mean the Exiles are drawn away from home in the next round.
But what’s happening outside the football?

FULL TIME
All Checkatrade Trophy matches must have an outright winner. If the teams are drawing at full-time, there will be a penalty shootout. Penalties are taken in the traditional ABAB manner.
The winner of the penalty shootout will receive a bonus point. For this particular group, a draw and bonus point for either Newport County AFC or Plymouth Argyle will not be enough to alter the group standings and Chelsea U21s and Swindon Town will progress.
