on the road cheltenham

Last season, we took over 900 supporters to Cheltenham Town to support us just after Christmas. Padraig Amond’s incredible 18-yard header put County ahead just after half time but a Mohamed Eisa equaliser in the 77th minute meant the points were shared.

County head into Saturday’s match on the back of an impressive 2-0 victory over promotion-contenders, Colchester United, whilst Cheltenham Town have hit some good form too and are unbeaten in six across all competitions.

Tickets

Tickets are available online for Box Office Collection (Newport County AFC Club Shop) only.  Tickets for this match are available in the Club Shop until 3pm, Friday 23rd November 2018.

After that, and providing tickets aren't sold out, tickets can be purchased on the day at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium – these tickets will be Cash Only at the turnstiles.

We have already sold a massive 450 tickets for this match, so it looks as though we’ll take a similar number of away fans again.

The Away End at the Jonny-Rocks stadium is situated in the Hazlewoods Stand.  The stand can be accessed via Whaddon Road.

Travel to the Jonny-Rocks Stadium

Cheltenham Town have advised that the Christmas lights are being switched on in Cheltenham on the evening of the 24th November.  This could cause traffic delays in the area particularly after the match.

Bus services to the stadium go though the town centre so this will most likely be affected.

By Car:

Leave the M5 at Junction 11 turning right towards Cheltenham. Go across 1st roundabout - GCHQ is on your left. Turn left at the next roundabout, into Princess Elizabeth Way. Go straight over the next roundabout, (the exit is over at about "1 o'clock"). Keep on up this road, and you will come to a big roundabout, where you will see a McDonalds on the corner. Go straight across this roundabout and continue up this road going over a double mini roundabout. Then as North.

By Train:

Nearest train station: Cheltenham Spa Railway Station

Trains between Newport and Cheltenham Spa run roughly every thirty minutes and most take around an hour.  Pay attention to which train you get on as some trains take up to one hour and forty minutes.

To get to the town centre (a short walk from the stadium) from Cheltenham Spa railway station, you can get the Stagecoach D bus (departs every 10 minutes during peak times).

Alternatively, a taxi from the station, direct to the stadium is probably the easiest option.

Awaygames.co.uk have also created an away guide for
Newport County AFC supporters which can be accessed here.
