Twenty-five-year-old winger Keanu Marsh-Brown has signed a two year deal with Newport County AFC and will join the club on the 1st July 2018 subject to international clearance.
Marsh-Brown joins the Exiles following a successful three-year stint at Forest Green Rovers and helped the Nailsworth outfit secure promotion to the Football League for the first time following a successful play-off campaign in 2016/17.
Before that spell with Rovers, the 6’1” winger came through the ranks at Premier League sides Arsenal and Fulham, going on to sign professional terms with the Cottagers in 2009.
His first experience in the Football League then came during a loan spell at MK Dons during the 2010/11 campaign, scoring his opening goal in League 1 on 12th February 2011 against Brentford.
From there, Marsh-Brown gained further vital experience in the Football League whilst plying his trade at Oldham Athletic and Yeovil Town, before joining Barnet ahead of the 2012/12 season.
He was again part of a National League winning side when helping the Bees secure the title in 2015, joining Forest Green Rovers immediately after promotion and remaining with them until this move to the Exiles.
At international level, Marsh-Brown has been rewarded for his fine domestic appearances and has been capped at England ‘C’ level on three occasions. This goes alongside his appearances at England U16 and U17 level.
On joining the club, Keanu Marsh-Brown said: “I'm delighted to sign for Newport County AFC. I spoke to the manager quite a lot throughout the summer and he showed a lot of interest in me and I feel like it is the correct decision for me at this point in my career.
"I just want to get my head down and play as many games as I can. I want to do well for this team and hopefully help them push as high up the table as possible.
"The manager gives me a lot of confidence and he knows what he wants from me next season. That was the main reason that I wanted to come here to be honest."
Manager Mike Flynn added: “I’m very excited about Keanu signing. He’s one of those players who gets the fans on the edge of their seats. He has a promotion under his belt with Forest Green and we all remember that outstanding goal he scored. He’s at the right age and as long as he gets his head down and works hard I’m sure he’ll kick on and play at a higher level.”
Keanu Marsh-Brown becomes the fourth signing of the week for the Exiles
joining Fraser Franks, Jamille Matt, and Charlie Cooper.
