Welcome Fraser Franks

Newport County AFC are delighted to announce the signing of centre back Fraser Franks on a two-year deal.

County fans might remember the 27-year-old from a brief loan spell at the Club in 2012.  Following an injury at this time, Franks made a move to non-league Welling United to get game-time and experience.  Having proved himself at Welling, he made the move to Luton Town and most recently Stevenage FC.

Franks will bring with him a Premier League pedigree, having spent his early Youth Career at Chelsea FC, coupled with League Two experience having spent three years at the Lamex Stadium.

The 6”2 defender not only brings a cool, experienced head to the heart of the Exiles defence, but has also proved himself an effective right back when needed.

On completing the deal, Fraser Franks said: "It’s clear that the club is on an upward trajectory now so hopefully I can come in and keep improving the team following what the boys did last year.  Mike Flynn had a lot of good things to say so I think it’s a good time to be at Newport County AFC and I’m really looking forward to it."

Manager Michael Flynn added: “I’m delighted Fraser’s agreed to come to Newport County AFC having turned down a new deal at Stevenage.  He’s someone I’ve wanted in since the end of last season.  He’s a leader and will be important for us both on and off the pitch.”
