Our U18 side travel to Yeovil this Saturday for their first fixture of 2018, where Byron Anthony’s side will be looking to bounce back from a tough 4-2 defeat against Bournemouth last month and start 2018 with a win against the Glovers.
We preview Yeovil’s last five matches, previous fixtures between the two sides and a lowdown on the backroom staff ahead of our vital fixture against Paul Wilson’s side.
Past Matches
The Young Exiles’ most recent fixture against Yeovil Town, was County’s first league match of the 17/18 season! Goals from Evan Press and forward Michael Cook ensured that the points were shared in a thrilling 2-2 draw at Lliswerry School.
Byron Anthony’s side have actually faced the Glovers twice at home in 2017, however a 2-1 loss on the 25th January continued a tough run of form for County. Despite this, a brilliant 3-0 win over Plymouth Argyle a month later confirmed their place in the Merit League 1.
Our last trip to Yeovil was a 2-0 win in the Young Exiles’ third game of the season, continuing an unbeaten start to their league campaign on the 20th August 2016; the boys will be looking for the same result when they travel to Somerset on Saturday.
Backroom Staff
Yeovil’s academy manager is Paul Wilson, who joined the Glovers in March 2017. Wilson previously worked as academy manager at Scunthorpe United for 11 years and had a 12-year spell in the same role at Doncaster Rovers – The former striker made over 200 appearances for Yeovil, scoring 60 goals between 1989-1995.

Last Five Fixtures
Yeovil Town have had a mixed run of results as of late, picking up six points from their last five league games, which leaves Paul Wilson’s side 3 points away from the top half of the table going into the match.
A 4-1 win against Forest Green Rovers at home saw the Glovers recover from a 2-0 loss against Oxford United.
Two further losses followed – a 6-3 defeat against league leaders Exeter City and a narrow 1-0 defeat at home against Plymouth Argyle; however, Yeovil go into this weekend’s match on the back of a 1-0 victory against 6th placed Bristol Rovers.
