This afternoon, we travel to the Abbey Stadium where we face Cambridge United in the Carabao Cup.
Last Season’s Carabao Cup First Round saw us defeat League One side Southend United which earned us a magical trip to Elland Road. Over 600 County fans made the trip North to support the team and, whilst most County fans will (probably quite rightly) claim “we should have been 3-0 up at half time”, the match eventually ended in a 5-1 defeat thanks to a wonder performance from United's Kemar Roofe.
County would get a rare second chance against the Championship outfit when, just months later, the former Champions League semi-finalists visited Rodney Parade in the FA Cup. No one needs to be reminded of that result!
Cambridge United are a familiar foe for County. The two sides met three times last season with County the victors on all three occasions. Cambridge will fancy their chances, however, as before last season, their record against The Exiles was second to none!
