Exiles Together are a brand new Newport County AFC supporter group dedicated to inspiring communities who might not usually join us at a County match to come along and join us as we bond over the beautiful game.
With help from Kick it Out and Fans for Diversity, County in the Community, Newport County AFC and Exiles Together are looking forward to working with people from all over our community to create a safe, welcoming and fantasitc environment at home matches.
Fans for Diversity has a simple aim – to celebrate diversity among football fans and ensure that all fans can feel safe and welcome at football. Football is the world’s greatest game and it is for everyone, regardless of age, disability, gender, race, faith, sexual orientation or any other feature.
Since its launch in 2014 Fans for Diversity, run by the Football Supporters’ Federation and Kick It Out, has delivered on that aim with a huge array of activities which have inspired participation from communities who might not otherwise have got involved with the beautiful game.
We want to encourage existing fans and those who may not attend live football to come together and work towards making each stadium an inclusive environment where people can feel confident and welcome watching a match.
The Campaign has increased the awareness of the club and worked with existing fan groups to bring more people through the gate to enjoy football at every level. New supporter groups like The Bangla Bantams, Punjabi Rams blues 4 all and over 40 LGBT groups have promoted every aspect of diversity and worked with the FSF & Kick It Out to change the game for the better. Fans deserve a voice and through FSF we want to make sure every fans voice is heard.
With this in mind, it is great that we can introduce a new fan group to the club in Exiles together, this group aims to bring the community together and link them up to Newport County AFC and its wider fan base. The group who are made up of members of the community want to actively seek new people who love the game in the Newport Area and take them along to a match and host them so they can at least experience a match-day for the first time.
By doing this it will make new fans feel welcome and the group want to encourage all members of the community to join the club who may never had a reason to go before, it’s about supporting and being part of your local team and the group aim to connect the community to the club and create an opportunity for everyone to fall in love with the club and experience the highs and lows of being an Exile.
The Fans for Diversity campaign is available for all fans and there is a fund that you can apply for to do anything that brings fans together to enjoy the beautiful game and celebrate diversity. This could be Banners, T-shirts, Quiz nights, scarves, fans matches it’s up to you
