This Saturday we welcome volunteers from around the Club who’ve joined forces with Arthritis Research UK to help raise money for the charity.
Arthritis Research UK are an ambitious charity who exist to prevent the onset of arthritis, develop a cure for arthritis and transform the lives of those with arthritis (now and in the future) by building, applying and sharing knowledge.
Their current promotional campaign shows that Arthritis is a condition than can affect anyone, of any age, at any time. There are 100s of different types some of which are wear and tear (Osteoarthritis), some of which are caused by a problem with the immune system (Rheumatoid Arthritis).
A word from Arthritis Research UK…
There are 10 millions people in the UK who have arthritis. Many of these wake up every morning and face the day in pain, without the support and recognition they deserve. Arthritis attacks what it means to live, and people with arthritis are often left to manage alone. This is wrong, and we believe that by getting people the right support and by investing in the best science we can make everyday life better for millions of people with arthritis.
We draw upon the real life experience of people with arthritis and the scientists who study it to put together the best information, and give people with arthritis the vital support they need. We fund exceptional science to find the breakthroughs that will help people push back the limits of their arthritis.
Here in South Wales, we are at the heart of the fight. Our Cardiff centre of excellence is looking at the biomechanics of the disease whilst at Swansea University we are carrying out pioneering stem cell research. By generously giving to our bucket collectors on Saturday, you can help us in the fight and help us continue stay at the very front of Arthritis Research.
