Sky's six-part series "The Next Jamie Vardy" to begin airing on 16th September.
Beginning on 16 September, "The Next Jamie Vardy" is a six-part series which takes a look behind Vardy’s V9 Academy and will follow Vardy as he seeks to discover new talent from non-league football.
The Exiles were one of a few League Two sides to benefit from Jamie Vardy's week-long academy which aimed to showcase previously overlooked but talent players from non-league as they signed striker Lamar Reynolds.
Lamar is a raw talent but has already shown he has the potentially to be a real talent and follow in the footsteps of perhaps the most famous non-league to pro-footballer ever, Jamie Vardy.
The series begins on Saturday and will reflect back on Vardy’s time playing in non-league football right through his journey to record-breaking goalscorer and Premier League champion with Leicester City before focusing on the V9 Academy.
The programme follows the 5 Academy players who earned pro-contracts thanks to the V9 academy and will include a behind the scenes view of Newport County AFC as they catch up with Lamar and his progress.
The show will air on the channel alongside live Premier League football games such as Manchester City v. Liverpool, Chelsea v. Arsenal and Manchester Utd v. Everton and will also be available on Sky 1.
Adam MacDonald, commissioning director at Sky 1, said: “Jamie completed one of the most remarkable stories in the history of English football by winning the Premier League title.
“Now he wants to offer that fairy tale opportunity to others like him, with the V9 academy. We can’t wait to use this unique access to show Sky customers the real stories behind non-league players hoping to make it to the big time.”
