County in the Community launches the second year of the +Sport Move and Learn Project, in partnership with Ferrero and the EFL Trust
County in the Community, Ferrero and the EFL Trust are delighted to announce that they are embarking on the second year of their +Sport Move and Learn partnership in Gwent. The specially designed primary schools programme encourages children to take part in physical activity, while helping them to understand the importance of a balanced diet and an active lifestyle.
The +Sport Move and Learn Project is part of Ferrero’s global Kinder + Sport CSR initiative that has already encouraged 15 million children across the world to follow an active lifestyle.
Locally, over the course of six weeks, children from year 5 spend time in the classroom learning about the body, nutrition and the importance of exercise, through participating in interactive activities. This is then followed by a session dedicated to playing football, dodgeball or handball, with two weeks spent on each sport.
To date, County in the Community has delivered the programme locally in 21 schools, with 920 children impacted. To build on this success, this year they will be reaching 25 schools and 1000 children.
The first schools taking part this year are: Langstone primary school, St Woolos primary school, Padre Pio R C primary school, St David’s R C primary school, Ysgol Gymraeg Cwmbran, Gaer primary school, George Street primary school, St Joseph’s primary school, Glasllwch primary school, Rogiet primary school, Alway primary school, Maindee primary school, Undy Primary school.
