Frank Nouble Wins League Two August Player of the Month

It was a very successful first month of the Season for The Exiles. League Two sides played four league matches in August of which County played three away from home. Despite that, the boys racked up an impressive five points on the road and then three points in the homecoming match which saw the Exiles end the month on 8 points.

In recognition of the Exiles superb start to the Season, manager Michael Flynn was nominated for Manager of the Month narrowly missing out to Exeter's Paul Tisdale whilst Frank Nouble was voted League Two Player of the Month by a panel of Experts which include EFL expert Don Goodman; EFL Communications Director Mark Rowan, League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Mikey Mumford.

It's fantastic recognition for the most prolific month of the 25-year-old’s career to date. Five goals and an assist in four games included a 13-minute hat-trick against Chesterfield, which featured an unstoppable 25-yarder into the top corner.

Manager Michael Flynn said: "I'm made up for Frank.  He's got undoubted ability and I'm pleased he's proving that.  There's a lot of football left to play and I've challenged him for this not to be the only award he wins this season."

Nouble said: "I'm very delighted and very grateful for the award.  Having one of our players named League Two Player of the Month for August sums up the great start we've had as a club.  For me, It's made me proud but also hungry to make sure this season is a success both for me personally and for the club.  We want to bring back the good times for the supporters too!"

Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery said: “His stunning 25-yard strike into the top corner against the Spireites was a worthy EFL Goal of the Weekend winner and Exiles fans may have more than just a newly re-laid Rodney Parade surface to celebrate this season if their new acquisition from Southend can do the business on it. Nouble’s five-goal haul means Mike Flynn’s side can look up the table rather than down it after last season’s miraculous final-day escape. We now rate Newport an 18/1 poke to drop out the Football League from an opening show of 4/1.”

Speaking of THAT goal vs Chesterfield - a very happy Month of August for Frank Nouble continues as he has also found himself shortlisted for the Sky Bet League Two Goal of the Month Award.  Voting began today on SkySports.com.
