Defender Dan Butler confirms that he will continue in his role as We Wear The Same Shirt Ambassador.
Last season, Dan Butler became the official ambassador of the County in the Community "We Wear the Same Shirt" programme. The programme is aimed at adults who are living with a mental health condition and is free of charge to attend. You will get a friendly welcome, a chance of a kick about and if you’re lucky a cup of tea and a biscuit at the end.
Towards the end of last season, the We Wear the Same shirt played some friendlies against Swindon Town's side, and entered a tournament hosted by the FAW and held at Dragon Park which they won.
Dan showed his support to the side by regularly attending the team's training sessions and always sending messages of support ahead of games and tournaments.
When asked about becoming ambasador against for the 2017/18 Season, Dan didn't hesitate to resume his role.
He said: "I'm really happy to be ambassador once again. I have created a lot of good relationships with a lot of the people involved in the programme over the last year so I couldn't turn down the opportunity for this to continue.
"It's really important to me and the Club to have a good relationship with the community and for that to include as many different groups as possible. These are the same people that come along and support us every week so it means a lot!"
Community Development Officer, Norman Parselle, said: "County in the Communty staff and We Wear the Same Shirt players are thrilled that Dan is going to the Club Player ambassador again this season. Dan built a great relationship with the players last season and showed a great commitment to supporting everyone involved."
County in the Community deliver the programme every Thursday from 1pm until 2.30pm at Newport Civil Service, Shannon Close, Bettws, Newport, NP20 7LX.
