We did say that it would be hard to imagine another month of the Season that would boast the kind of spectacular goals we saw in August and whilst we weren't wrong, there were some very good (and important) goals scored this month.
With none of September's efforts struck from outside the 18 yard box, it's not quite the feast of outstanding, jaw-dropping, rocket-like efforts which we enjoyed in August. Nevertheless, September saw the Exiles continue a great run of form which currently sees them just outside the playoffs and the goals that got them there were the kind of thing that would see a manager rubbing his hands as yet another training-ground routine comes good.
So, here are your September Goal of the Month contenders.
OPTION 1| Hillman vs Exeter (U18s)
An excellent team goal with quick passing and great movement was finished neatly by Tom Hillman when the U18s side played Exeter this month. The move begins with a throw-in on the half way line and seven touches later is hitting the back of the net. A special mention must go to the back-heal assist. A beautifully worked goal from the lads and a strong contender for September's Goal of the Month.
OPTION 2| Demetriou vs Crawley Town
Mickey Demetriou scored twice against a solid Crawley side at the Checkatrade.com Stadium earlier this month with a move straight off the training ground. After he fired a warning shot (a header nodded just past the post), he converted the next two corners into goals leaving the Crawley defenders stunned. The defender's second was arguably more impressive, with the centre-back beating his opposite number and finding the top left corner from the edge of the six-yard box.
OPTION 3| Bennett vs Morecambe
Whilst the performance and the result might not have been what the Exiles wanted when they made the trip to Morecambe this month, there can be no critisism for the way they equalised the match. Bennett registered his first League since January 2015 to toe home at the near post after some good work from fellow centre-back, Mickey Demetriou.
OPTION 4| Amond vs Cheltenham
Padraig Amond notched his second goal in as many home appearences for the Exiles when his quick reactions meant he side footed home the winning goal against Cheltenham earlier in the month. Ben White's shot was going well wide but Amond finished cutely at the back post to win the game for County.
