Following a fantastic result in The Emirates FA Cup First Round against League One Walsall, the Exiles will now host League Two Cambridge United in the Second Round.
The tie will be played at Rodney Parade between 1st-4th December 2017 with match and ticket details to be announced in due course.
Newport County and Cambridge United have met plenty of times in the league but this Emirates FA Cup Second Round Tie will be just the second time the sides have met in the FA Cup.
In 1953, Newport County were drawn away to Cambridge United in the FA Cup First Round. The match ended in a draw and was replayed at Somerton Park. Cambridge won the replay 2-1 but were knocked out in the next round by Bradford Park Avenue. At the time, County were playing in the Division Three South whilst Cambridge were in the Eastern Counties League.
Plenty has changed in the past 64 years and with a home draw, anything is possible....
Home draw #FACup 👌🏿
