Newport County AFC are pleased to have Mikey Griffiths joining us as a special guest on Friday for the Doncaster Rovers game.
Mikey is 12 years old and is fighting the fatal condition Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. This devastating muscle disease affects mainly boys and in the later stages causes the heart and breathing muscles to fail. Tragically, those diagnosed with this type of muscular dystrophy rarely live past the age of 20.
Despite being diagnosed when he was just 6 weeks old, he was able to live a fairly normal life until the age of ten. He loved playing football!
Over the past two years, Mikey’s condition has deteriorated rapidly and he is now confined to a wheelchair. His parents have had to adapt their home for Mikey to sleep downstairs. He is being bullied at his school because of his condition.
We at Newport County AFC are proud to support Mikey’s Cause – a Just Giving Campaign aiming to raise enough money to send Mikey and his family to Euro Disney whilst Mikey can still travel and aid with any further changes that need to be made to their home. We hope that you will support Mikey’s Cause too.
You can donate by going to Mikey’s Just Giving Page: www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/Mikeyscause
And read more about him on the Mikey's Cause Facebook page: www.facebook.com/MikeysCause12
There will also be a bucket collection at the game.
Please give generously. It’s a wonderful cause for a wonderful, and very brave, little boy.
