Online community radio project Newport City Radio has agreed to provide pre-match entertainment for every Newport County home match for the rest of the season in the all new 'Saturday Warm Up' show in the Marquee!
The 'Saturday Warm Up' will kick-off this weekend when Carlisle United visit Rodney Parade. Tickets are still available for Saturday's Sky Bet League 2 clash.
Music requests, live music, player interviews and the all-important team news means the Marquee will be the place to be for every single home match for the rest of the season!
The 'Saturday Warm Up' will start at 1pm and end at around 2:45pm giving County fans plenty of time to head over to Rodney Parade ready for the match. The Junior Fan Zone and a full bar will also be on offer to all fans in the run up to kick-off! Where else would you rather be before the game?
Not only will the Junior Fan Zone include lots of football games for young Exiles to enjoy but there will also be face painting available as well as the opportunity to enter the club Christmas Card Competition! Find out more about that here.
This Saturday the musical guests will be Oxbowlake, winners of the Best Duo award at this years Love Live Music Awards. County fans will be asked for their musical choices online before the live show and in the marquee.
Newport City Radio Managing Director, Ian Lamsdale said “As we head towards our 10th Birthday next year we want to be more ambitious. Many years ago, when County were non-league we had full live commentary of matches so we’re no strangers to County fans. As the host of the new show I’m looking forward to getting back out there and meeting up with our Newport County friends once again”.
Newport County AFC’s Media and Engagement Manager, Hayley Ford said: “We are delighted to be joining up with Newport City Radio to help us run an interactive match day experience in the Marquee. Having a host to announce Team News, hold interviews with players, run competitions and play music will really add to the match day build up and hopefully provide some good content for the Newport City Radio team. The Club worked closely with Newport City Radio whilst we were still in the National League and we are thrilled to have found a way to work with them again! We’re really looking forward to finding out what Ian and his team have planned.”
The show will start at 1pm and end at around 2:45pm giving County fans plenty of time to head to their seats ready for the match. As well as live music and the Junior Fan Zone, why not quench your thirst with a drink at the fully licensed bar? This will also be open from 1pm to 2.45pm and also at half time.
There will also be an oppurtunity for County fans to help with the club "Toy Drop" donation to the Royal Gwent Hospital’s Paediatric Ward for Christmas. As publicised earlier on in the week, the club along with all players will be visiting Royal Gwent Hospital’s Paediatric Ward with toy's for all of the patients so if you have anything you think would make a somebody smile this Christmas, bring it along to the Saturday Warm Up this weekend. Find out more here.
See you in the Marquee on Saturday for the first ever Saturday Warm Up!
