Tom Owen-Evans played a starring role in the Exiles 2-0 victory at Southend, creating the second goal for Shawn McCoulksy following a composed run into the area.
After the game, he spoke to iFollow Exiles…
On the victory…
“We knew we had the quality to come here and win.
“I think they might have under-estimated us a bit and thought they might have had an easy win but in the dressing room we knew could come here and get a result.
“I thought we were the better team and deserved to win and to come here and get that was a big positive.”
On competition for places…
“There’s a lot of competition in midfield with Tozer coming back as-well. I knew when I got the chance to start tonight that I had to impress the gaffer and hopefully I’ve done that.”
On the team-spirit...
“With us staying up and keeping the majority of our core squad, everyone has bonded well and there’s a great team spirit between the boys which I feel a big part of, it’s nice.
“To do what we did at the weekend and tonight, with the bond we have already, it can only be good for this team.”
On new addition Shawn McCoulsky...
“He scores goals and that’s what we need. He came on and got the equaliser at Stevenage and he’s got another two tonight. He’s in the right place at the right time, got two tap-ins tonight and we’ll take that.
“During the celebration, he thanked me for the assist which was great."
On Saturday’s game at Crewe...
“Crewe away will be another game, away from home and if we go there and perform then I think we can 100% get the three points.”
