Striker Shawn McCoulsky scored his first goal for Newport County AFC on his league debut against Stevenage FC on Saturday.
After the game, he spoke to iFollow Exiles....
McCoulsky
On first football league goal …
“Absolutely buzzing. I have no words; it couldn’t have gone any better for me.
“Obviously, very happy to come off the bench and score my first Football League goal on my Football League debut as-well so I’m buzzing.”
On making an impact off the bench ...
“The Stevenage defenders were tiring so knowing my strengths like running behind, the gaffer told me to keep running in behind and keep being dangerous and affecting the game.
“Obviously, try to tire out their defenders and when I get the chance take it.”
On the fighting spirit of the team …
“We went 3-1 down but the boys didn’t stop.
“The result wasn’t really what we wanted but at least we got a draw from the game and not a loss.
“They showed great character and great heart to get the result in the end and we just need to move on now to Southend on Tuesday and see what we can do in that game.”
