All the stats you need, ahead of the visit of Barnet to Rodney Parade this Saturday.
With the Checkatrade Trophy taking a back seat in Newport’s mind for another month, attentions can now turn back to the league with the visit of Barnet, who took all three points in their last visit to Rodney Parade back in March
Looking at the visitors
Like Newport, Barnet haven’t won in their last four games in all competitions but their higher number of draws than the Exiles means that they find themselves in 3th position in the league, a point ahead of County going into this fixture. They average a goal a game in the league and will be looking to star striker John Akinde, who already has three to his name so far this campaign, to provide them with some attacking force against County’s back line. Akinde has no problem putting the ball in the back of the net at Rodney Parade, scoring the third goal in Barnet’s win here last season.

Last Meeting
After the original fixture was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at Rodney Parade, Barnet travelled to South Wales on a Tuesday night in March and wasted no time in putting the ball in the back of County’s goal, with Andy Yiadom scoring the opener after just eight minutes. Mark Randall, now in a County shirt, scored their second on the stroke of half-time, before John Akinde sealed the game with twenty minutes to go.
Last Time Out
Newport failed to score any points in their opening group game of the Checkatrade Trophy as they fell by four goals to one away to Plymouth Argyle. Jordan Green had put the Exiles 1-0 up after 19 minutes and they were able to hold the lead to half-time, only for Plymouth to level five minutes into the second half and from there they progressed to a comfortable victory.
The Man in Charge
Graham Salisbury is the man in the middle for this fixture with his assistants Michael D’aguilar and Kevin Howick, the fourth official is Simon Knapp. Salisbury has been on the list since 2001 and has taken charge of several County fixtures in the past. Last season he had the whistle for the away trip to Dagenham and Redbridge and the home loss to Bristol Rovers. In March 2015 he sent off Chris Zebroski in the 2-1 away defeat to Stevenage and in October 2013 he was in the middle for the 3-0 victory over York City. In his career he has taken charge of 516 games handing out 1528 yellow cards at an average of 2.96 per game, he has also dismissed 94 players.
