SEAN RIGG JOINS THE EXILES

Newport County AFC are delighted to announce the signing of striker Sean Rigg on a two-year contract.

The twenty-seven-year-old striker, who can also play as a winger, signs for the Club as Manager Warren Feeney continues his preparations for the season ahead.

Rigg began his career at close rivals Bristol Rovers, before progressing onto Port Vale and Oxford United.

The forward spent the past two seasons with AFC Wimbledon and was instrumental in the Dons promotion to League One, playing over forty times for the South-London club last season as they secured victory in the playoffs.

After travelling to South Wales for his medical this morning, Sean relayed how excited he was to hit the ground running with the Exiles in preparation for the coming season.

"I'm delighted to have signed for Newport County AFC," said Rigg.

"This time of year is obviously a stressful time for players and you want to get your future sorted as soon as possible, so I'm buzzing that a deal has been agreed and now I'm looking forward to the start of pre-season."

"I took to Warren straight away and that was a big draw in me signing. I was looking to get back to the South-West area, so this move ticks all the boxes for me. Newport County AFC is a Club that is on the up, so it's an exciting time to be joining the Club."

Manager Warren Feeney spoke of his delight at securing the signing of Rigg and believes his experience of winning promotion out of this division will be a big benefit for the Club.

"Sean has got the experience of promotion from this level, so that is obviously going to be a huge benefit to us."

"I remember Sean from his time at Port Vale where he was used as a striker, but he also gives you an option out wide, which will help us tremendously."

"He has got the right mentality to succeed in this division and what I like most about him is that he is a very loyal character and I'm sure that he will be a very good addition for us."
