County in the Community hosted over one-hundred-and-fifty girls in a special event aimed at getting more girls involved with football.
The event took place at the International Sports Village, Spytty and included girls from schools across Ebbw Vale, Pontypool, Blaenau and Gwent.
The girls participated in skill exercises in the morning, followed by small sided matches in the afternoon.
School Sports co-ordinator, Daniel Harvey, said, "It was great to see such a big turnout for the event."
"We are constantly looking at ways to reach out to more people in the local community and it was wonderful to see so many girls enjoying their first taste of football."
"We have organised this event in collaboration with the Welsh Football Trust and we had volunteers from the College Programme and Newport County Ladies team here on the day to help out with the coaching and refereeing of the games."
"In all the day was a great success, with each girl taking home an Adidas top that was supplied by the Welsh Football Trust or a medal provided by County in the Community. We are hoping to run similar events in the future."
