College Programme Co-ordinator Dave Lewis looks back on a successful week for the Futsal team.
The Futsal team headed to Birmingham on Wednesday, for two fixtures in the Football League Trust Futsal League.
Newport County AFC C 16 v 1 Wolves FC D
Newport were very dominant from the start and were very patient with their build up play. County went into a 9-0 lead after 15 minutes with two goals from Rory Kelly , Darnell Taylor-Wood (x2) and Joe Callaghan (x5).
Wolves kept plugging away and scored an excellent goal on the stroke of half time. Second half went a similar way with County playing some decent stuff, which saw them secure a 16-1 win. Second half goals were scored by Cori Bussutil (x6) and Ben Thorington.
Credit has to go to the Wolves players who continued to work hard and conducted themselves superbly.
Newport County AFC D 4 v 2 Leicester City FC C
Newport started on the front foot and went into an early 1-0 lead through a calm side foot finish from Mohamed Hersi. Minutes later Hersi secured his second of the game from a tight angle.
Leicester grew into the game and drew level with two quick fire goals from their number 9.
On the run of play County went into the lead for second time when Mo Jallow dispatched a well worked corner and a minute later Jack Thompson sent County into a 4-2 half time lead.
The second half saw Leicester pile the pressure on Newport, but the boys were very organised and managed not to concede and secured a 4-2 win.
