MATCH REPORT: LEYTON ORIENT (A)

A first-half goal by Jamie Turley gives the Exiles the victory at the Matchroom Stadium.

Manager Warren introduced loanee Jordan Green into the starting XI and recalled Jennison Myrie-Williams, who replaced the injured Jack Compton. Jamie Turley was shifted to right-back, as Darren Jones and captain Scot Bennett were favoured as the centre-back pairing.

Striker Sean Rigg had the opening chance of the game for the Exiles inside the opening ten minutes, when the forward was able to snatch possession inside the host's area and from a tight angle his effort flashed narrowly past the far post.

Rigg had a slight on goal moments later when a driven cross by Myrie-Williams was deflected into his path and his snapshot volley lifted over the bar from just inside the Orient penalty area.

The Exiles took the lead in the thirty-fourth minute when a corner from the left was flicked to the far post by Marlon Jackson and Jamie Turley was in the right place to poke the ball home from close range to open his goal account for the club.

County were able to hold onto the lead until the half-time break, with the back four looking organised and efficient in dealing with the host's ability to move the ball quickly and shift the direction of play on a number of occasions.

Into the second half and the Exiles defence had to alert early after the restart as Ollie Palmer managed to squeeze in behind the County back four and the forward had to be prevented from shooting on target by a well-timed slide by Darren Jones to smother the ball.

Warren Feeney introduced Jazzi Barnum-Bobb and Ben Tozer to add a more defensive slant to the County team, as Myrie-Williams and Jordan Green were replaced.

The hosts enjoyed the majority of possession during the second period but were confined efficiently by Exiles and often opted to launch deep crosses into the area which were easily dealt with by the County defence.

With twenty minutes to go, the hosts produced a dangerous corner that fell to Tom Parkes, but the midfielder snatched at his effort and the volley bounced harmlessly wide of the post.

Joe Day was called into action moments later as the 'keeper had to smoother a dangerous shot at the near post from Cornick and the shot-stopper did well to push the ball clear from any lurking danger inside the box.

With moments left on the clock, a hanging ball into the County area managed to find Ollie Palmer at the far-post. The forward had time to adjust his body, but failed to hit the target with his header, but eventually the flag was raised for offside.

County held out for the five minutes of added time with little threat on their goal to record their first three points of the season.
