County suffer defeat at Yeovil
Yeovil's Jack Comptons 15th minute penalty separated the two sides on a sunny, but windy day in Somerset. The game produced few chances for either side, but it was the hosts who managed to see out an early penalty and claim all three points.County started brightly and Scott Boden looked to get the afternoon off to a great start, but the Glovers man of the match Artur Krysiak, was equal to his shot pushing away for an early corner. Just four minutes later and County were already on their third corner of the game.
Yeovil looked to catch County on the break following the early pressure with Nathan Smith looking to latch onto a lofted free kick which ended up safely behind for a goal kick.
Danny Holmes received a 10th minute booking for persistent fouling, his second of the game, and minutes later Holmes was involved again, with the ball floated in from the left Holmes was penalised for a push in the box with the referee awarding the Glovers a penalty, Referee Keith Hill giving a final warning.
Jack Compton stepped up to take the penalty, firing straight down the middle to give Yeovil the lead. The hosts then looked to gain momentum as they looked to pile on the pressure, a corner kick for Yeovil had to be dealt with by Darren Jones and safely put behind for another corner.
With the half settling down and few chances coming for either side, both defences seemed comfortable with very little to test either keeper for the remainder of the half. On loan striker Souleymane Coulibaly came close to levelling the scores in stoppage time at the end of the first half, his header gathered by Artur Krysiak in the Glovers goal.
A slight delay to the start of the second half with referee Keith Hill being replaced by assistant Brett Huxtable. It was County who started the half in similar fashion to the first, Alex Rodman's shot flashing across the front of goal just out of reach of the advancing Scott Boden.
Elito was next to try his luck, with County continuing to push for an equaliser, Elito's shot from 30 yards was always dipping, but not quite enough, finding its way onto the top of the netting behind the goal.
Coulibaly managed a header on goal hitting the upright, before realising the linesman's flag was raised for offside. With half hour remaining in the game County came close once more, Alex Rodman playing the ball across goal with Scott Boden firing over the bar, only to be flagged offside.
With 11 minutes remaining County were denied a penalty shout, Alex Rodman going down under pressure from the Glovers defence with the 500 strong Amber Army claiming a penalty, referee Huxtable awarding the corner to County.
As the game was drawing to a close, Joe Day was called into action, getting down well to push away a free kick from distance to safety. Tom Meechan made a late appearance in a bid to get the equaliser, but goalkeeper Artur Krysiak claimed from the final corner of the game.
Manager Warren Feeney commented "I don't think we deserved to lose the game, we've been done by a penalty, probably wrong side but i thought we had enough chances in the first half, in the first couple of minutes. Second half they've had one shot from a free kick 35 yards out. It's the fine lines in football. I wanted a response and I thought the boys had a go today, at the end of the day we've got beat, but i wanted a performance, I wanted a response and they give me that."
