Wayne Hatswell spoke to the press following County's 2-0 win over Accrington Stanley on Friday evening.
Wayne Hatswell heralded the 2-0 victory over Accrington Stanley as potentially one of Newport County's most important wins of the season.
"It was a fantastic win, hard deserved and hard fought" said Hatswell, "I said to Jimmy that this was probably one of the biggest wins of the season, coming on the Friday night, putting the other teams under pressure for Saturday – it was a massive win."
Hatswell praised the players grit and determination during the hard-fought win, "you're going to have to battle when you come to Accrington on a Friday night.
"We prepared well all week because we knew this was going to be a tough place to come. Credit to the lads they stuck to it, and defended well when we had to."
Hatswell also praised the midfield trio of Max Porter, Lee Minshull and Mark Byrne, "our midfield three were outstanding today, they covered every blade of grass."
But Hatswell said the win was down to sheer hard work and a team effort: "Everyone tonight, from front to back has put in a really good shift. We've got a good work ethic and resilience, to come to places like this, to stay in the game, be difficult to beat, and as the game pans out, to get the first goal, and then kick on."
Video interviews with Hatswell and the two goalscorers Aaron O'Connor and Shaun Jeffers, as well as extended highlights are now available on Exiles Player.
