Local youth project Changing Gearz sponsors charity bike ride to Amsterdam.
Local youth project Changing Gearz has kindly donated the use of bikes to the four-person County in the Community team taking part in a sponsored bike ride in aid of Prostate Cancer UK.
In association with the Football League, four members from the local community are representing Newport County AFC and County in the Community in a charity bike ride, cycling from London to Amsterdam in June.
The team, made up of Dan Harvey and Norman Parselle from the Community team as well as Deiniol Parselle and Danielle Servwright are set to take on a 145-mile cycle ride over two days, raising funds for Prostate Cancer UK with the hope to also raise awareness of the condition.
As part of their training, local gym Fitness4Less have provided use of their gym for the quartet, and now Changing Gearz have provided bikes for the bike ride which is set to take place later this month.
You can sponsor the quartet via JustGiving by clicking here.
The Changing Gearz Project is part of the LIFT/CODI Youth Project within Blaenau Gwent; Caerphilly and Torfaen and is based in Griffithstown, Pontypool.
Changing Gearz is part of Torfaen County Borough Council and initial funding came through the Lift/Codi programme which is funded as part of the regional collaboration funding from Welsh Government.
Young people will help to run the project as a business using skills such as marketing, business, administration and mechanics. All profits will be put back into Changing Gearz to provide more staff, apprentices and training opportunities.
