Newport County boss Terry Butcher gives an update to the Official Newport County Website.
Whilst there is now unlikely to be any news on incoming players today, Butcher says that he is closing in on more additions. "We're working our way towards a couple more signings, players are away and agents are away so we're just trying to tie people down, it's the usual stuff in the summer.
"We've made a lot of work on a couple already, and it's just a case of when that news actually breaks.
There's no panic from the County boss who is happy with how his close-season recruitment is going. "There's lots of players out there and a lot of work to be done, but so far so good.
"Signings can happen very quickly, or it can be drawn out, a lot of names have been thrown at us, there is a lot of research and reference work to be done. There's plenty of time, but we'd like to get players agree to come as soon as possible.
"I wouldn't like to put a time scale on it, but there's certainly no panic. We will have a team and we will have a squad.
"There are lot's of signings to come, sometimes they come in a rush like they did last week, and then there is a bit of time until the next batch turn up. We'll announce signings as soon as possible that's for sure.
Talking about his attempts to start to announce his back room staff, Butcher reveals that talks are still on going, but that he is confident deals are close to being agreed. "As soon as we have news we'll put it out very quickly, people obviously want to know" Butcher added.
