Terry Butcher has told the Official Newport County Website that he's pleased with the progress made so far.
"We're very close to reaching agreements with a couple more players, and although we've not managed to sign any further players this week I'm still pleased with the progress that we are making" Butcher said."These things can sometimes drag on a bit longer than you would hope, there's a lot of toing and froing sometimes, but we're still on target to bring in the type of players that we want.
Butcher sympathises with supporters who he realises are keen to see more signings arrive at Rodney Parade. "I can understand that supporters want to see signings, but I'd like to assure them that we're working hard behind the scenes to build a squad of players that we feel will be able to compete in League 2.
"There is certainly no panic from us in terms of being able to bring in the type of, and quantity of players that we need to. There are a lot of good players out there, and a lot of players who are interested in joining us.
"I'd like to thank supporters for their patience so far, we really appreciate the support."
