Chris Gadsby takes a look at our League Two opponents for the 2015/16 season......
Full Name: Hartlepool United Football Club
Nickname: Pools, Monkey Hangers
Founded: 1908
Ground: Victoria Park (Capacity 7856)
Record against County: Played 4, Won 1, Drawn 2, Lost 1, Goals For 7, Goals Against 6
Last Season: 22nd – Last season was a disaster for Hartlepool, spending over half of it at the bottom of the league and never getting above 16th position. Fortunately a run of four successive victories close to the end of the season dragged them just out of the relegation places, and a draw on the final secured their League 2 status for another year.
Key Player: Scott Fenwick – Hartlepool struggled for goals for the entirety of last season with Fenwick as the top scorer with only six goals. Jonathan Franks also scored six goals last season but has since been released by the club.
Fixtures: August 18th (A) January 2nd (H)
Prediction: Having lost one of their joint top scorers so far in the off season, Hartlepool may well struggle to find the net again and find themselves towards the bottom of the league next season as well. They only won 12 games all season and only picked up 16 points away from home. It will be another season spent looking over their shoulders at the bottom two again for Hartlepool and I feel it will once again come down to the wire as to whether or not they survive.
