Newport County AFC are saddened to hear of the passing of former player, trainer, Physio, caretaker Manager and Director Dai Williams this morning (Monday).Dai has been a key part of the football club since the very beginning having taken on a number of roles in his time at Newport County AFC and his dedication to the football club both on and off the field was second to none.
Dai was Newport County through and through having played for the club and upon retiring from the game, Dai took up a position on the back room staff which included training the first team squad, Physio and a spell as Caretaker Manager.
Dai was also a former Director of the football club in the very beginning when the club reformed back in 1989 and he was a key part of the early years.
Not only was Dai a key part of the football club, but the assistance he offered to many football clubs throughout Newport as trainer and fitness coach meant that he was key part of the football family within the City.
Dai was later to become a member of the Football Association of Wales back room staff, working behind the scenes as kit man for the FAW National Teams at all ages.
Newport County AFC would like offer condolences to the family of Dai Williams, a true Newport County AFC great.
