YOUTH TEAM PROGRESS IN FAW YOUTH CUP

County's youngsters progress to the quarter-final of the FAW Youth Cup...

The U18s defeated Port Talbot 3-2 on Sunday afternoon, with goals from Rhys Kavanagh, Nyall Grey and Finley Wood.

After the game, Academy Director, Grant Kalahar, praised the boy's efforts, after an injury to promising goalkeeper Rhys Davies forced them to see out the game with just ten men.

"We produced a very good performance against a tough Port Talbot team in the FAW youth cup today" said Kalahar.

"Mark Pike had his team organised well and had to play some good stuff to break them down. We are a bit disappointed with the goals we conceded after our great defensive record over the last few months, but we always felt we could create enough chances to win the game and the boys never got disappointed or let their heads drop"

He added, "They really dug deep as well when our young Goalkeeper Rhys Davies picked up a nasty injury that reduced us to ten men after we had used our all three of our subs.  It was a fantastic team effort all round and congratulations to Rhys Kavanagh, Nyall Gray and Finlay Wood for getting our goals."

The youth team will head to Bangor City FC in the quarter-final of the FAW Youth Cup.
