The Exiles defeated by Bristol Rovers in the Final Third Development League...
The Exiles fielded a side that was a blend of experience and youth, with Zak Ansah and Aaron Collins given the opportunity to stake a claim to a first-team place.Joe Green was the busiest of the two goalkeepers during the first-half, with the nineteen year-old being alert to touch a Christian Montano effort onto the crossbar in the early exchanges.
Just prior to the break the Exiles had a great chance to break the deadlock. Seth Nana Twumasi ran with the ball from deep and slotted a delightful diagonal pass into the path of Zak Ansah, who tested the 'keeper with his effort from inside the area.
Into the second-half and the visitors were awarded a penalty for foul on striker Ellis Harrison, who converted the spot-kick past Joe Green, to give Rovers the lead.
Striker Aaron Collins looked sharp, making a neat turn on the edge of the area that forced Rovers 'keeper Will Puddy into making a save from his shot from twenty-yards.
Just prior to the seventy-minute mark Rovers doubled their lead, with a chipped shot from Ellis Harrison finding Ryan Broom at the far-post, who tapped the ball home from close-range.
Just six-minutes later Rovers completed the scoring, when a long-range shot by Jamie Lucas was spilled into the net by Joe Green.
