Newport County manager Jimmy Dack talks to the media following his sides 3-2 defeat to Dagenham & Redbridge.
Speaking to the press, Dack said that despite the run of defeats, he was still trying to look at the positives "The positives are we've got 62 points, we only had 58 points last season so we've bettered last seasons score" however the County manager admitted that he now feels his sides play off hopes are all but over. "Are we a play off side? Well I think it's evident that we've had plenty of chances in the last four games and we've let it slip."Dack was clear on what he believes cost his side the win today, telling the media, "there's no point me dressing it up, we should have taken the chances when it was 0-0, but we didn't take them, and they go up the other end and take their chance, that's probably been the story of the last six games or whatever it is.
When asked about his sides promotion chances, Dack responded: "I think we've got to stop talking about promotion, I know it's there, but I don't think it helps the players in there, we've got to go out there and play with freedom" adding "I think the pressure has got to one or two, or four or five in there."
However Dack says his players will go into the final two games looking for wins "We've got to fight to the end, that's what we do, and we'll see where it takes us.
