County sign Wales defender
Newport County AFC is delighted to announce the signing of Welsh international defender Darcy Blake until the end of the season.
Blake has won 14 caps for Wales including a memorable Euro 2012 qualifier against an England side featuring Wayne Rooney & Frank Lampard at Wembley.
New Tredegar based Darcy made his debut for Cardiff City, playing over 90 games for the club before moving on to Crystal Palace in August 2012.
He played 10 games for the Championship side featuring 9 times in a 14 game unbeaten run that saw Palace begin their promotion push to the Premier League last season.
His contract with the London club was ended by mutual consent on 31st January and since then he has been training with Championship side Birmingham City. However, County manager Justin Edinburgh had been keen to bolster his defensive options as we approach the last 10 games of the season.
Caerphilly born Blake was delighted to get back into the game:
'I had been training with Birmingham City since February but am grateful for Justin Edinburgh and Newport County AFC in showing faith and signing me through until the end of the season. I can't wait to get started and playing games for the County. There is plenty to play for in these last 10 games and I am hoping to be involved at Torquay on Saturday.'
